Control of Specific Pests

We also offer individual pest control services for the following pests:

Cockroaches

German CockroachProbably no other pest is viewed with such disdain. In addition to carrying bacteria like salmonella, cockroaches increase the risk of asthma, especially in children.

The most common cockroaches encountered in Pennsylvania are the German Cockroach (shown on the right), the American Cockroach, and the Oriental Cockroach.

Ants

Odorous House AntThere are many species of ants that invade homes in Warren County, such as the odorous house ant (shown at the right), which nests in a wide variety of interior and exterior areas.

Other commonly encountered ant species include the house ant, the pavement ant, and the carpenter ant, the latter being one of the most important wood-destroying insects encountered in Pennsylvania.

Carpenter Bees

Carpenter BeeThese annoying bees look very similar to bumblebees except for their smooth abdomens.

Although passive by nature (they rarely sting) and somewhat valuable as pollinators, carpenter bee control nonetheless becomes necessary because carpenter bees drill holes in wood, often causing serious damage to homes, barns, sheds, wooden fences, exterior furniture, and playground equipment.

Fleas

FleaFleas are tiny, wingless, laterally flattened parasites that have powerful hind legs adapted for jumping. They feed on blood and move between people, cats, dogs, and other warm-blooded animals.

Fleas are associated with the transmission of several series diseases including bubonic plague, pneumonic plague, flea-borne typhus, tularemia, and tapeworms. They can also cause serious rashes, known as fleabite dermatitis, in sensitive individuals.

Wasps, Yellow Jackets and Hornets

Baldfaced HornetPennsylvania is home to a number of stinging insects, such as paper wasps, yellow jackets, and baldfaced hornets (shown on the right).

Stinging insect control becomes necessary when insects build their nests in or near human-occupied buildings or recreational areas. Stings from wasps, yellow jackets, hornets, and other stinging insects are painful and can cause life-threatening reactions in sensitive individuals.

Ticks and Mites

Americian Dog TickTicks and mites are parasitic arthropods that often are named after their preferred hosts (at least as was believed when they were named). Most ticks and mites, however, will parasitize almost any animal (including humans) if they get hungry enough, often causing rashes and allergic reactions and sometimes transmitting serious diseases.

Examples include dog ticks (shown on the right), deer ticks (the main vectors of Lyme Disease), and bird mites.
